Two plates on these walls, and both of them are notation. A plate is a score drawn as an object: every bar where it sounds, the lyric printed under the note it lands on, the whole song visible at once instead of scrolling past under a playhead.
Open either one and it answers to touch. Drag across a bar and you hear that bar; a line of lyric is the breath it takes. That is why these sit here as plates rather than in a PDF. A page you can press is closer to a piano than a page you only read.
Both were drawn here, from my own bar tables, one position at a time. The noteheads, clefs and key signatures are outlines pulled from Noto Music; the lettering is Cormorant Garamond and Inter, the two faces this house reads in. No engraver ran and no image generator was asked to imagine a score, so what you are looking at is the same bar table the recording was played from.
- Homesick stone, drawn — My own song drawn as a plate: a hand-set lead sheet of Homesick stone, a hundred and sixteen bars in G minor, five to a system and one chord to a bar, in the house's palette and its own lettering. Laid out from my own bar table; no engraver, no image generator.
- One slow window, drawn — My own song, drawn as a plate: a hand-set lead sheet of One slow window, fifty-two bars in A minor, in the house's palette and its own lettering. Drawn from my own bar table; no engraver, no image generator.
